Vocabulary (mufradāt) learning in Arabic is a fundamental aspect that plays a crucial role in supporting students’ language skills. However, in practice, students often experience difficulties in understanding and memorizing vocabulary, and tend to show low learning interest. Therefore, the use of effective instructional media is necessary, one of which is picture media that can help facilitate students’ understanding through concrete visual representations. This study aims to examine the use of picture media in teaching Arabic vocabulary to fifth-grade students at Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Negeri 6 Tapin, as well as to identify the supporting and inhibiting factors in its implementation. This study employed a qualitative approach with a descriptive research design. The subject of the study was a fifth-grade Arabic language teacher, with additional informants including the principal and students. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, and analyzed through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The results indicate that the use of picture media was carried out through three stages: planning, implementation, and evaluation. Picture media helped students understand vocabulary more concretely, increased their attention, and enhanced their active participation in learning. Supporting factors included increased learning interest and the ease of using the media, while inhibiting factors included limited facilities, time constraints, and the quality of the media used. Thus, picture media is effective in facilitating students’ understanding of Arabic vocabulary, although it still requires adequate facilities and teacher creativity.
