Abstract

Character education is a crucial aspect in shaping individuals' personalities amidst an increasingly complex and dynamic era. This study aims to analyze the role of character education in shaping student personality and to identify factors influencing the effectiveness of character education. The research employs a critical qualitative analysis approach using library research methods based on literature studies and documentation. The results show that character education significantly impacts the formation of students' personalities, particularly in moral, social, and emotional aspects. By instilling values such as honesty, discipline, responsibility, and respect, character education can shape individuals with integrity and the ability to face life's challenges. Factors influencing the success of character education include the family environment as the first educational setting, the school as a place for internalizing values, and the community as a space for applying these values. Challenges in implementing character education include limitations in facilities and infrastructure, differences in students' backgrounds, and lack of community support. Teachers play a central role in character education as role models and facilitators of character values through active, psychological, and religious approaches. Schools are also required to create a conducive environment for the comprehensive development of students' character. This study suggests that future research employ a broader approach and continuously evaluate the implemented character education programs to strengthen the synergy between schools, families, and communities in achieving effective and sustainable character education
