Peran Guru Sebagai Agen Perubahan (Agent Of Change)

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of teachers as agents of change in education and to provide an overview of the importance of improving teacher competence in addressing the challenges of education in the modern era. This study employs a qualitative approach using library research. This approach was chosen to examine in depth the role of teachers as agents of change in education based on various relevant sources of literature. The findings indicate that teachers, as agents of change, play an important role in promoting social change, fostering environmental awareness, utilizing digital technology in learning, and serving as mentors and role models for students. However, the implementation of these roles continues to face several challenges, including limited digital competence, inadequate facilities and infrastructure, administrative burdens, and insufficient support for professional development. Therefore, improving teacher quality needs to be pursued through strengthening competencies, providing continuous training, ensuring adequate facilities, developing learning communities, and implementing educational policies that support innovation and lifelong learning. The conclusion of this study shows that teachers can be regarded as one of the key actors in determining the direction of educational development as well as guardians of the nation's future because, through transformative educational practices, teachers contribute to creating a generation that is capable of adapting, thinking critically, demonstrating strong character, and contributing to the realization of a more advanced and civilized society.
